Becoming a member of FirstGen Society means joining a supportive and empowering community of first‑generation college students and alumni. Membership connects you to a lifelong network built on fellowship, opportunity, and shared success through high school, college, and into your professional life.

Members gain access to exclusive benefits, events, discounts, and resources designed to support every stage of the first‑gen collegiate journey. Membership activates immediately upon joining, with no initiation process required.

Anyone who supports our mission is welcome to join.

Membership Grades

Membership dues and chapter fees vary by grade and by the chapter or club you join. Dues information is available through the Join Us Portal after becoming a member.

Founding Member

Founding Members are the first individuals who helped establish FirstGen Society and hold a special lifetime designation.

Junior Member

  • For high school students (grades 9–12).

  • Junior Members join through their school or Student Club.

  • There are no individual dues; schools that start a Student Club pay an annual chapter fee for materials

Student Member

  • For undergraduate students enrolled part‑time or full‑time at a 2‑ or 4‑year institution.

  • A one‑time membership fee provides up to 4 years of Student Member status or until the bachelor’s degree is earned. Students who remain enrolled beyond 4 years may renew for an additional term.

Professional Member

  • For first‑generation alumni who have earned a bachelor’s degree.

  • Professional Members receive lifetime membership, access to professional development resources, exclusive events, and opportunities to support current first‑gen students.

Associate Member

  • Open to supporters who are not first‑generation students or alumni, including educators and professionals who work with first‑gen communities.

  • Associate Members renew annually and are not eligible for elevation to Professional Member status.

Membership Elevation

Both Founding Member and Professional Member status are granted with lifetime membership.

Junior Member -> Student Member

  • Eligible upon acceptance to an accredited 2‑ or 4‑year college.A one‑time membership fee activates Student Member status for a 4‑year term.

Student Member -> Professional Member

  • Eligible upon completion of a bachelor’s degree.

  • Members submit proof of graduation (approval notice, transcript, or diploma) and pay a one‑time membership fee.
